One way to create the feeling of bright light in your painting is to use the same kind of contrast that you might see in stained glass with the light shining through it. That means having very bright areas framed by very dark lines. Those lines might be trees or bushes in silhouette. They might be the actual window of a house. 

Here is a very bright, luminous landscape framed with a dark-colored tree in the foreground. I love to paint on dark trees in my landscapes. Sometimes I will add bark as well using a torn piece of paper instead of a brush.
