To create this spray paint art effect, you need some spray paint, at least 2 colors and something to crinkle. It could be newspaper, notebook paper, plastic, posterboard or something else.

You spray one layer of the first color. Then you spray a layer of the second color. You don’t need much paint! Then you crinkle the paper or plastic, place it on top of your colors and brush your hand across.

How can you use this effect? Planets, skies, decorator textures for furniture, pyramids, adding detail to illustration. The possibilites are endless.

Effect 2: Applied paint

Applied paint sounds really complicated. It’s not! It just means paint that you apply. How do you apply it? It’s just like planet texture but backwards. You can use the same stuff, newspaper, plastic etc. But this time you will be putting the paint on that paper and applying it to what you are painting.

You can use 2 colors for this effect also.

What can you use it for? Planets, clouds, illustration, craft projects, anything you can imagine!

My sky is a blue color, so I will use some orange and yellow colors to create my leaves. This will be a nice contrast. I add some orange and yellow paint to my newspaper, crinkle the paper, then tap it on my canvas to apply the semi-mixed colors.
